The Vampire Facial is comprised of two components. First we draw your blood and extract what is called PRP, second we perform what is called Micro-needling to the surface of your skin while gently massaging in the PRP.
PRP is Platlet Rich Plasma, it is used to introduces growth factors directly to the dermis using a technique called “micro-needling”, which tightens, smoothes, and rejuvenates your skin while reducing the appearance of scars and other facial blemishes. Simply put, it can take years off your facial appearance!
What is Micro-Needling?
Micro-Needling with PRP is a natural, non-invasive skin therapy that can be performed quickly in our office. We first extract your Platelet Rich Plasma using a sample of your own blood and our special centrifuging process. A topical numbing cream is applied, and then a device with tiny needles moving at an extremely fast rate to create controlled micro-injuries to stimulate elastin and collagen growth. A thin coating of your own Platelet Rich Plasma is applied with each pass of the micro-needles to “super-charge” this healing process.
How Does PRP Help with Beauty and Anti-Aging?
The growth factors in the Platelet Rich Plasma promote healing, collagen production and elastin production which can drastically help in a variety of skin conditions. The new collagen helps to tighten skin, fill in wrinkles and stretch marks, smooth scars and shrink pores. It has the ability to reduce the appearance of hyper-pigmentation (age spots) and other blemishes on the face or skin.
How Long Does It Take?
The actual procedure itself is done in our office and takes approximately 20 to 40 minutes, depending on the size and condition of the area being treated. For the first three days after the procedure your skin will be pink and will begin to scab. You might notice your skin begin to peel, similar to a sunburn — do not scratch or pick at scabs during this period.
You should avoid wearing makeup and stay out of the sun during this period. Gently wash your face with a mild soap twice a day, and apply a quality moisturizer. You might consider scheduling the procedure at a time when you can stay home and rest for the first couple of days. After that, you can wear light makeup and you should always wear a good sunscreen. You will begin to see improvements gradually after the first week with full healing at around the 5-6 week mark.
How Many Procedures Does It Take?
Depending on the results you are looking for and the condition of the area being treated, PRP Micro-Needling takes a minimum of two (2) treatments up to a maximum of six (6) treatments. Please consult with your provider prior to your procedure to determine a specific treatment plan for you.
How Long Does It Last?
You will begin to see gradual improvements after the first week with full healing at around the 5-6 week mark. Improvements in your skin tone and texture can continue for up to 2–3 months, and the effects can last for up to 2 years.
